How it Works / Rate
Some children arrive with a specific project in mind, while others aren’t yet sure what that looks like. Both are completely fine. I guide each child through the entire process, from first idea to finished project. Mentees typically range from elementary school through high school, and the approach is tailored to each child’s age and project.
Here’s how the process typically works:
- Getting to know your child. Every mentee fills out a detailed questionnaire that helps them identify what excites them, while giving me a better understanding of who they are, what lights them up, and what doesn’t.
- Brainstorming begins. Using the information and insights from the questionnaire, I work with each mentee to shape their interests into a tangible project. Together, we think through goals and next steps to bring the idea to life.
- Building real-world skills. I work with mentees on age-appropriate project timelines, pitches, target audiences, networking, and more. Even with younger mentees, learning how to explain a project to an unfamiliar adult or peer is a skill rarely taught in school — and one that can last a lifetime.
- Step-by-step support. I’ll be with your child every step of the way. Depending on the mentee’s age and project, this can include introducing them to appropriate community members, teaching them how to do outreach, and assisting with the practical steps needed to take a passion project from concept to completion.
- Optional philanthropic component. Some mentees choose to build a charitable element into their project. I will guide them through choosing appropriate community partners, making introductions, and more.
While the project itself is the end goal, just as important is the sense of self-confidence, pride, and fulfillment your child gains from seeing their own idea come to life.
